FAQ
Where will my session take place?
Sessions are at an indoor or outdoor location within 50 miles of Friendswood. It’s best if the location is meaningful to your family for one reason or another (even if it’s just because you find the landscape really stunning). Together we’ll find the perfect piece of Earth for your session.
If you desire a locale further , I’ll prepare a custom quote and we’ll make it happen.
How should we dress for our family session?
> Choose a color scheme, more specifically, pick a couple of colors and choose clothes that fit in that color scheme.
> But don’t be too matchy, matchy. You should avoid having everyone wear the same color or outfit (this goes for matching kids’ outfits, too).
> Avoid clothing with logos, characters, or catchphrases (e.g., a big Nike swoosh), as these can be distracting and will date your images. Think timeless and classic.
> Patterns can be fun and are a great way to add visual interest.
> Textures (e.g., knits, lace, corduroy, velvet) are another great way to diversify a wardrobe and they photograph beautifully. I especially love the way knits show up in images, and they are great for layering as the temperature dips on summer evenings.
> Layers, hats, and accessories (like scarves) will keep everyone comfortable when the weather or temperature shifts, and have the added benefit of introducing more personality into your session images.
> Keep your location in mind, some styles are better suited to a more natural environment and some just fit urban settings better.
What’s the best time to have a session with a newborn?
The first two weeks after baby arrives are usually the best time for a newborn session. During this stage, babies tend to be extra sleepy and curled up, which makes it perfect for capturing those sweet early moments before they start changing so quickly.
That said, what matters most to me is that mom is feeling well and everyone is comfortable. If you need a little more time, that’s completely okay. Beautiful photos of your baby can be taken at any time—the two-week window is just a special, sleepy season.
